Course pics available at this link:http://www.onu.edu/org/discgolf/tourofcourse.htm.
Ignore the rest of this site. It hasn't been updated for three years and I don't have access to it, else I would modify it. Just look at the pictures.
These descriptions go with the pictures from the above link. For most holes, I assume the lines for Right-handed back-hand throwers.
1 - AM: 224ft - simple mid-range drive. Drops off behind the basket, so going past means a tough uphill put.
PRO: 433ft - long drive, but pretty open. Follows a ditch, though it isn't really in play for RHBH. RHFH and lefty's may have trouble as OB follows close on the right.
2. AM: 284 ft - Simple drive to the basket. Basket is surrounded by OB that is sometimes within the 10m circle. If you land there, its an easy circle three, but be careful on upshots and putts if your drives are short.
PRO: 477ft - Same advice as AM's, though with a longer drive and more of a need for a tricky upshot.
3. AM: 374ft - By far the toughest AM hole. Couple options here. A forehand through the two trees usually results in a good disc. A long hyzer to the right is a good option too, though sometimes the route is underwater due to drainage issues, making it a dangerous shot. Be careful not to go too long on this shot, as a weeping willow and two pine trees make for tough approaches. There is an anhyzer route over the shed to the left of the tee that is just as effective as a forehand.
PRO: 575ft - Long shot that is pretty open. A couple of small trees and two large pine trees around the pin make for a tough approach. When the retention pond is full, this tee can be underwater. When there is water and the tee is above water, getting over the water can be a neat trick. The pond is considered casual water though, so there is no stroke penalty for going in it.
4. AM: 290 ft. Wide open shot to the basket. The bowl-shaped terrain can make playing the wind tough. You won't feel the wind from the tee, so look at the flag on top of the cell tower to the right of the basket to judge the wind.
PRO: 350. Same as the AM, just longer. A tree in front of the tee requires you to hit a fairly precise line.
5. AM 354ft - Interesting tunnel shot. The woods to the left usually results in costing a throw. If you're not too deep though, there's a tunnel to get to the basket. Its low ceiling, but it can be done. There is a room for a bomb hyzer out over the water. Watching the willow tree though, it will knock your disc into the water. Trees around the basket make for a tricky approach.
PRO: 489 ft - Long turnover shot is the best option. Forehand and thumber are options too. Lots of trees in the way to the basket. Trees around the basket and a large willow make for a tough approach.
6. AM: 229ft - Nothing hard here. Just a soft hyzer out over the water.
PRO: 341ft - Long shot out over the water, but pretty straight forward. Drop Zone is the AM tee.
7. AM: 153ft - Soft hyzer into the trees surrounding the basket. If you go past the basket, you'll be down in a ditch that makes for a touch uphill put. Going too long will result in OB. Its a tricky shot, and putting from the right of the basket runs the risk of going down in the ditch.
PRO: 472ft - A tunnel drive sets up a tricky approach because of the trees and ditch. A forehand or bomb anhyzer to the left is an option, but probably not the best shot.
8. AM: 265 ft - Another good hole with options. A forehand hyzer is a great shot, as is a backhand anhyzer. A turnover through the trees is also an option. There is a dump spot to the right of the line of trees where debris from the lands keeping crew gets dumped. Getting in here can make finding your disc tough and make for tough footing for your approach. Stay out in the fairway.
PRO: 360ft - Tough shot here. Going through the trees is tough. Getting out into the fairway in front of the AM tee is the best place to be. A well placed turnover can get you to the pin, but your going to need to through it low, and that’s tough. Debris pile is very much in play on this shot.
9. AM: 202ft - The pine trees to the right of the basket yields a hole about pin high that you can hyzer through. If you hit the trees though, the chances of getting through are slim. Hitting them often results in a 10-20ft kneeling put through small windows. A forehand spike hyzer through the tree line to the left is an option. A thumber or hammer over the top also plays, but is tough to place.
PRO: 355ft - The batting cages here make for an interesting obstacle. A forehand drive isn’t too difficult, and throwing a turnover over the top is a good option.
10. AM: 289ft - Simple hyzer shot off an elevated tee. Wouldn’t mess with too much more here. A forehand through the tree line is an option, but tricky.
PRO: 360ft - same thing as the Am, just longer and without the forehand option.
11. AM: 288ft - Simple hyzer to the blind pin. Don’t get in the pines to the left, it will usually cost you a stroke. Be careful, there is OB behind the pin about 40ft, so don’t go long.
PRO: 450ft - Tunnel shot through trees and pines. Once you get out, it will hyzer in toward the pin. Be careful as OB sneaks up on you on the path about 250ft in front of you. Make sure your disc fades far enough.
12. AM: 330ft - Long shot over the water. There are two small pines right at the tee (not in the picture) that can catch your disc if your not careful. If you hit one, chance are your disc is wet. Playing a soft hyzer to the left of the water makes for an easy, safe approach for those that can’t clear the water.
PRO: 737ft - Holy long hole Batman...bring your distance game to this hole and just let it rip. Careful though, two 340ft drives will leave you wet. There is only about 50ft of clearance between pin and water, so if you flub your first drive, lay up to the water and then go over. No drop zone on this hole.
13. AM: 229ft - Everything is an option here, so just pick what works best for you.
PRO: 430ft - Lots of little trees in the way to your path to the basket. Roller is effective here, but just about whatever suits you will work.
14. AM: 169 - Lightly wooded drive. Clean lines that require a decent amount of precision. If you hit a tree, you will usually have a decent approach to save par.
PRO: 289ft - The tee is out of the woods about 120ft, and then you enter a tunnel in the woods. Stay in the tunnel and you’ll park it. Otherwise, your looking at a fairly difficult approach. If you hit the trees on the way to the woods, you’ll be looking at a pretty difficult second shot too.
15. AM: 169 - Simple hyzer through the tunnel. If you hit a tree, the woods are sparse enough that you should be able to save three. If you miss far to the left, you’ll find yourself in a clearing that makes for open 50ft or so putts.
PRO: 285ft - Same concept as AM tees, except longer and a bit tighter.
16. AM: 192ft - Simple hilltop-to-hilltop shot. The big ash in the picture fell victim to the ice storm, so now there is a small sapling in between the tee and the pin. Not a difficult shot by any means.
PRO: 289ft - Long hyzers or turnovers are the best options here. The big tree can catch the hyzer shot, and some small trees can make the turnover difficult. Hitting a tree doesn’t usually result in a difficult approach, but a bounce into the water could cost you a stroke.
17. AM: 191ft - The big tree to the left of the tee in the picture also fell victim to the ice storm, so there are four options here. The anhyzer or forehand to the right is the most open shot. Going through the trees is a possibility, but a tough low ceiling shot. If you hit one of the trees, your disc can land in the sidewalk which is OB. A bomb hyzer to the right is an option, but there’s only a small window to get through. A thumber over the top is an option too.
PRO: 322ft - Long soft hyzer is really the only option here. Be careful not to catch one of the small trees because they could easily knock your disc into the water or onto the sidewalk which is OB.
18. AM: 259ft - Bomb hyzers, thumbers and rollers are the options here. Rollers can get kicked around by the lip of the sidewalk though, and hyzers have the chance of catching a tree and dropping onto the OB sidewalk. Going past the pin can result in a touch put around a big tree, or landing on top of the sports complex. Landing on the building is a stroke penalty.
PRO: 320ft - Low ceiling to get a drive out of. Rollers are effective here because getting a long drive out from the trees and then past the trees in front of the pin is difficult.
Extra Holes that the Locals Play:
A. After playing hole one, walk down the hill directly behind the pin to the Green Monster (walking track). Play from there to the practice basket. It’s a long, open, uphill shot. Green Monster and road behind the basket are OB.
B. After throwing your tee shot on nine, throw a second disc that is meant for 7’s basket. It’s a tough shot from there, but there are options. Going right at it is probably the best option, but there are trees in the way and the shot is a blind shot.
C. After finishing 18, play from 18’s basket to 17’s basket. The tee is in between 18’s basket and the tree right behind the basket. Road and sidewalk is OB. Turnovers and thumbers are the best option here. Make sure the drive turns over though, or it will be in the water.
Notes about the long tees: many do not have poured concrete tees. Watch for markings on trees and lines on the Monster, sidewalk or parking lots for the tee spots. Here's a general description of where they are:
#1 is on the Green Monster near the road.
#2 is also on the Green Monster
#3 is across the rentention pond near a drain pipe.
#4 has a marked tree and a line on the Green Monster behind the AM tee.
#5, #6 and #7 have poured concrete tees.
#8 is marked in a parking spot in the parking lot behind the AM tee.
#9 is on the Green Monster.
#10 has a marked tree behind the AM tee.
#11 is on the walking path on the way from #10's pin to #11's AM tee.
#12 is on the concrete that usually has a semi-trailer on. If the trailer isn't there, its the only concrete after the walking path on the way to the AM tee.
#13 is on the Green Monster
#14 has a marked tree near the sidewalk directly behind #13's basket. It is nowhere near the am tee.
#15 has a natural tee with a line drawn in the dirt behind #14's basket.
#16 is a natural tee in between the tree and the bench in between the water and the AM tee.
#17 is a natural tee near a lamp post behind and to the right of the AM tee.
#18 is on the concrete in front of the fraternity house.
